We are seeking a strategic and hands-on IT Director to lead the development and transformation of the Global IT function. In this role, you will be responsible for building and scaling a capable IT team, modernising legacy systems, and ensuring technology supports operational performance, financial control, and regional growth. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with commercial awareness, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and the ability to translate IT initiatives into measurable business value in a dynamic, multi-site SME environment.

As the largest and most experienced provider of automated specialty welding services, WSI delivers precision-driven solutions for both planned projects and emergency response. Our capabilities include automated welding, weld metal overlay, weld cladding, orbital welding, high velocity arc spray (HVAS), and return bend welding. These technologies are engineered to meet the highest standards for quality, productivity, and performance in demanding operating environments.
JOB SUMMARYWe are seeking a strategic and hands-on IT Director to lead the development and transformation of the Global IT function. In this role, you will be responsible for building and scaling a capable IT team, modernising legacy systems, and ensuring technology supports operational performance, financial control, and regional growth. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with commercial awareness, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and the ability to translate IT initiatives into measurable business value in a dynamic, multi-site SME environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To lead and develop the Global IT function, ensuring secure, scalable and commercially aligned technology capabilities that enable disciplined operational execution, financial control and sustainable regional growth.
- Translate group IT strategy into structured regional delivery, ensuring systems, infrastructure and governance frameworks effectively support operational performance, margin protection and controlled geographic expansion.
- Lead the assessment of current systems, infrastructure and process maturity, developing and executing a phased IT improvement roadmap that stabilises and upgrades core infrastructure across facilities and field operations.
- Optimise current systems to strengthen operational and financial control, reducing reliance on manual processes through greater automation and system integration.
- Improve reporting accuracy, forecasting and margin visibility while supporting the rollout of new technologies aligned to business priorities.

- Ensure commercial systems effectively support accurate project costing, working capital visibility and sales pipeline transparency, aligning IT priorities directly with EBITDA delivery and overall operational performance.
- Operate effectively in a multiple hat SME environment, engaging at both strategic and operational levels to lead and build a capable IT function.
- Act as the primary IT liaison with local leadership, commercial teams, and functional heads, translating technical initiatives into business relevant outcomes.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in IT services, delivering technology projects, and aligning IT with business priorities.
- Education: University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Strong background integrating, migrating and/or managing ERP, CRM, and other core enterprise systems.
- Hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, networks, cloud, or other systems to support continuity and growth.
- Experience in international and multicultural business environments
- Fluency in English & PL (written and spoken); additional European languages are an advantage
