ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Materials Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of materials management, including purchasing, inventory control, and warehouse management. You will lead a team of professionals, including purchasing department staff, and warehouse team members, to ensure seamless coordination and optimization of materials flow throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and implement strategic plans and objectives for materials management in alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the purchasing process, including supplier selection, negotiation of contracts, and procurement of materials, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely delivery.
  • Lead and manage a team of buyers, providing guidance, support, and training as needed to ensure high performance and adherence to departmental goals.
  • Implement inventory control measures to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and reduce carrying costs.
  • Coordinate with production, sales, and other departments to forecast demand and ensure adequate inventory levels to meet production schedules and customer orders.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors, evaluating performance, resolving issues, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to materials management.
  • Oversee warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and distribution of materials, to ensure efficient and effective utilization of warehouse space and resources.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance overall efficiency in materials management operations.
  • Prepare regular reports and analyses on materials management performance, including key metrics such as inventory turnover, stock accuracy, and on-time delivery.

Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management, with demonstrated experience in purchasing, inventory control, and warehouse management.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in managing and developing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and other relevant tools/systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and best practices in materials management.
