JOB SUMMARY
The Engineering Technician be responsible for performing the preparation, application, examination, and reporting for thermal spray and other R&D initiatives. The position acts as a crucial link between engineering design and practical thermal spray application.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct experimental and test thermal spray applications, in accordance with engineering and project specifications.
- Set up and operate a variety of thermal spray equipment, including manual and automated systems.
- Perform destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) on test coupons and collect test data in an organized manner for reporting.
- Prepare and process materials for testing, which may include using cutting, forming, and abrasive blasting techniques.
- Maintain the organization, cleanliness, and safety of the lab and test booth environments.
- Work closely with engineers and supervisors to plan and execute project effectively.
- Communicate findings and project progress to the team, contributing to continuous process improvement efforts.
- Record test results and write reports, adhering to standard formats.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED is the minimum, but an associate’s degree in a related field, such as welding technology or engineering technology, is often preferred.
- Proven hands-on experience with industrial equipment and/or lab analysis technology is preferred.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and competency in Excel and Word for data collection and reporting.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable codes (e.g., AWS, ASME).
A controlled lab or industrial environment. PPE will be required at all times when inside the thermal spray booth.
